La Vie En Rose
The full moon, like a curious neighbour, peeks around the edge of a cloud in the wee hours of the morning. The air has a chill that creeps unnoticed across my skin. In his arms I feel only warmth. His kisses pour in to me like an intoxicating liqueur setting my body ablaze with desire for him. Lips so soft, hands so gentle, I never thought existed. Yet, his sweet caress melts me as though I were constructed by wax.
Enjoying the late evening glow from our perch on the hood of my car, his first touch, surprisingly natural overshadows our infancy. It feels as though our bodies had been searching for each other over many life times. Weary explorers celebrating the end of their long journey.
Hands move over me as though conducting a sweet symphony. The music is la vie en rose. The musicians, our hearts.
Delicate fingers lightly dance over the curves of my torso. Breath is lost in my throat with his lips on my neck. I tremble in his arms like a virgin, recognizing no other has touched me so. Each motion of his hands, each press of his mouth surges deep in to my soul.
Quiet whispers of desire pass between us, our bodies enfolding in to each other. The cold, hard metal beneath us feels transformed as though we’ve been lifted to the heavens. This is my heaven. How much I’ve prayed to feel like this. To feel as though no one else in the world exists. To feel desired. To feel love.
Our bodies’ natural choreography expose us as newborns to the moon’s revealing beams. Rogue tears threaten at the corner of my eyes as he stares. Cradling me in his strong, safe arms, his angelic blue eyes gaze into mine. “You are beautiful” a whisper.
Now I can feel within me, my heart that beats. In this endless night of love, a great delight that comes about. The pains and bothers are banished and I see la vie en rose.
Eyes that gaze into mine,
A smile that is lost on his lips—
That is the unretouched portrait
Of the man to whom I belong.
When he takes me in his arms
And speaks softly to me,
I see life in rosy hues.
He tells me words of love,
Words of every day,
And in them I become something.
He has entered my heart,
A part of happiness
Whereof I understand the reason.
It’s he for me and I for him, throughout life,
He has told me, he has sworn to me, for life.
And from the things that I sense,
Now I can feel within me
My heart that beats.
In endless nights of love,
A great delight that comes about,
The pains and bothers are banished,
Happy, happy to die of love.
When he takes me in his arms
And speaks softly to me,
I see life in rosy hues.
He tells me words of love,
Words of every day,
And in them I become something.
He has entered my heart,
A part of happiness
Whereof I understand the reason.
It’s he for me and I for him, throughout life,
He has told me, he has sworn to me, for life.
And from the things that I sense,
Now I can feel within me
My heart that beats.
